Anthony Diaz

Anthony Diaz is a career member of the Foreign Service. He currently serves as the Political and Economic Affairs Chief at U.S. Embassy Mogadishu. He oversees the embassy’s political and economic analysis and reporting.
In his next assignment at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, Anthony will serve as a policy advisor and Security Council negotiator.
Past assignments include tours as the special assistant to the U.S. Ambassador in Rome and as a political-military affairs officer in Baghdad. Anthony also served in the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Prior to joining the U.S. Foreign Service, he served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, deploying to the Horn of Africa in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom and to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Anthony holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and history from the University of New Mexico, a master’s degree in international relations and economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia University.
